Harry Potter Plot Holes

September 17, 2010

1. My ‘favorite’ plot hole is Barty Crouch Jr. as Alastor Moody in the Goblet of Fire. This is not a plot hole, exactly, just highly unrealistic (even for a fantasy novel). You’re telling me that Crouch went to the extraordinary lengths to impersonate Moody for an entire school year, drinking enormous amounts of polyjuice potion, manipulating magical goblets, tipping off Harry here and tripping up other contestants there all year round just for the opportunity to get Harry to touch a portkey and end up in a graveyard?

According to Hermione in the Goblet of Fire after Crouch Sr. went missing. They (Voldemort/Crouch Jr.) want Harry’s “death”  to seem like an accident and beside wouldn’t it be a bit supicious and non-accdiental death if one professor and one student went missing?  (I would use the quote but I can’t find it)

2. About Hermione’s meory bit in book 7. There is a difference between MODIFYING someone’s memory (which is acutally what Hermione does to her parents) and completley wiping someone’s brain (like what Lockhart TRIED to do in COS).

3. Owning wands-I think this ONLY applies to the Elder Wand.

4.Harry had seen his mother’s death and it had sunk in… yet he could see the thestrals only in his 5th year and they are supposed to drive the carriages… Before the 5th book the carriages were horseless and then suddenly…. they are visible… That is funny…

Acording to JK Rowling:

“I’ve been asked this a lot. Harry didn’t see his parents die. He was in his cot at the time (he was just over a year old) and, as I say in ‘Philosopher’s Stone’, all he saw was a flash of green light. He didn’t see Quirrell’s death, either. Harry had passed out before Quirrell died and was only told about it by Dumbledore in the last chapter.

He did, however, witness the murder of Cedric, and it is this that makes him able to see the Thestrals at last. Why couldn’t he see the Thestrals on his trip back to the train station? Well, I didn’t want to start a new mystery, which would not be resolved for a long time, at the very end of the fourth book. I decided, therefore, that until Harry is over the first shock, and really feels what death means (ie, when he fully appreciates that Cedric is gone forever and that he can never come back, which takes time, whatever age you are) he would not be able to see the Thestrals. After two months away from school during which he has dwelled endlessly on his memories of the murder and had nightmares about it, the Thestrals have taken shape and form and he can see them quite clearly.”

5.  Hagrid has to be a half-giant to show people (like Umbridge`s, Malfoy`s, etc) hatred  to half-breeds.

6. About Lockhart`s office. I think its the difference between American naming of floor levels and Britain`s system of the samething  since in Britain they call the acutally “FIRST FLOOR”  the “GROUND FlOOR”, and and what we call the “SECOND FLOOR” they would call it the “FIRST FLOOR” , etc.  Note: I think this is the American  publsiher`s mistake since she probably didn`t know about the difference in stories here and in the UK.

THE HALF BLOOD MISTAKE IN HARRY POTTER ISN’T MISTAKE

September 11, 2010

Have any of you guys EVER study history?  Remember the Nazi and the Holcaust?

In Germany itself, the Ahnenpass and Nuremberg Laws classified people as Jews if they descended from three or four Jewish grandparents. A person with one or two Jewish grandparents was a Mischling, a crossbreed, of “mixed blood”. One could not become a non-Jew in the eyes of the government by becoming non-practicing, marrying outside the religion, or converting to Christianity. Only people with at least two of their grandparents of “German blood” could be German citizens

See how its kind of works with Deatheaters/non-Deatheaters kind of thing?    Same idea.

Here is from the author’s  website:

The expressions ‘pure-blood’, ‘half-blood’ and ‘Muggle-born’ have been coined by people to whom these distinctions matter, and express their originators’ prejudices. As far as somebody like Lucius Malfoy is concerned, for instance, a Muggle-born is as ‘bad’ as a Muggle. Therefore Harry would be considered only ‘half’ wizard, because of his mother’s grandparents.

If you think this is far-fetched, look at some of the real charts the Nazis used to show what constituted ‘Aryan’ or ‘Jewish’ blood. I saw one in the Holocaust Museum in Washington when I had already devised the ‘pure-blood’, ‘half-blood’ and ‘Muggle-born’ definitions, and was chilled to see that the Nazis used precisely the same warped logic as the Death Eaters. A single Jewish grandparent ‘polluted’ the blood, according to their propaganda.

Since Lilly’s parents are muggles, who parents are Muggles that what makes Harry “tained” and  a “half blood”.

Muggles=people with zero magic ablilty (but could have a forgotten witch/wizard in the family)

Muggle+Muggle=Muggle-born (Lilly, Hermione)

Muggle+witch/wizard=half-blood

Muggle-born witch/wizard+full witch/wizard=half-blood

pure-blood=is not “tainted” with half-bloods, muggles, or Muggle-borns (or “blood traiters” *) for centuries

*blood traitors are people who interact with people who aren’t “pure” that is/are: half-bloods, Muggles, Muggle-borns and Half-breeds.

Example 1 of Half-bloods number  (people who are half-bloods because of a Muggle dad but witch mother):

Seamus

Dean (but couldn’t prove it in book 7)

Voldermort

Snape

Example 2 of half-bloods (Muggle-born mom/dad and non-muggle-born dad/mom)

Tonks (Muggle-born dad)

Harry (Muggle-born mom)

Question is this person a half-blood

Dumbledore’s family?

Muggle-borns

Lilly

Hermione

Colin (and Denis-his brother)

Justin Finch Fletchty

Disabilties in Sims??

September 8, 2010

I think disabilties should be in the Sims game-considering kids growing up and adults who are already grown up need people like themselves in toys/games or else they think we (disabled people) are invisible yet we know we aren’t invisibile because if we were people wouldn’t bug us.

I have 3 reasons why disabilities should be in the game:

1) we elevators are coming-(for complely lazy sims-who don’t take steps)

2) we know EA is capable of making sims in wheelchairs (Simcity 4-hey not part of the sims series-but a cousin).

3) we have Africans, Asains, and Causains–so why can’t  disabled people be part of the diversity. I mean there are disabled Afrians, Asians, etc-I mean diversity means people who differ gender, culture and physically.

All the excuses I seen are complete lies.

They don’t need to re-do all the animation.  We have bending down for parents kissing kids. Not all disabled people need caretakers.  They could easily hire a disabled person (or disabled people) for such a project and the money could 20% goes to the disabled.

I will come back to add details latter

Dear Nostalgia Chick

September 2, 2010

The whole movie is ABOUT racisim/misunderstanding-but Disney did change some lyrics during the “Savages,Savages” song. I mean us, the “white” people think they were the devils and they thought us were the “devils”–“Barley even human”. I mean  of course Kocum would be “distrubed” wouldn’t you be if you were a Native male  person who’s identend was the Daughter of the Chief was “making out” by a “devil with mikly hide”.  And Thompson (the red headed guy?) would have also been “distrubed” by John Smith “making out” with a “savgage” female.

The songs are there for a REASON-its suppose to be FOR kids (well techinally its suppose to be FOR all ages-but kids like stuff with singing.

John Smith going back on a 7-month long journey-is somewhat real. Since the real Redhead/brownhead (or as I called it red-brown hair) John Smith after having some gunpowder bags go “off” near him he got some wounds and had to go back to England-You need to do some research of your own.

Why do dating sites need money?

September 1, 2010

Why do dating sites need money? Its a bit unfair for those who don’t yet have a job so they have no kind of “money” card to use. I mean I am very desperate to date being behind in the romance deparment. And I am half-thinking about joining e-harmony-but the only problem is no “money” card. I am only thinking about joining e-harmony since its has postive stuff said about it-even people on TV who got together because of it.
